Bee Dress

I made this cute little dress for my niece for Christmas. She will be one in April and it should fit her this coming summer. And as she grows it can be a cute top worn with jeans.

Reindeer Quilt

This is my cute Christmas Reindeer quilt. I actually started it a couple years ago, and finally finished it for this Christmas. It is hanging on my HUGE empty kitchen wall. My boys love it and have been singing "Rudolph" a lot at the table during dinner. Its hard to see, but all the Reindeer names are embroidered on it, plus they have button noses and eyes.

Long time no write....

Somehow I knew I wasn't going to be good at this. I'm not good at keeping a journal, or a scrapbook. I try all the time, but it never lasts. So, I posted some new family pics. Life is pretty much the norm here at the Bohman house. They boys are growing like weeds. Alex turned 9 in August. Camden will be 7 in January. They say time flies when you're having fun. That's definately true in this case. I can't believe I'm old enough to have a 9 year old and a 7 years old. WOW!!!
So, today was one of those days where I just wish I wasn't a mom or a wife. Just for a few hours . Not on a permanent basis. Mostly is just get frustrated with the mundane tasks. Like laundry, dishes, picking up stuff off of the floor. Today was one of those days where I felt like I'm the only one in this house who ever does anything. If I don't do it, it sits there for days, weeks, months, etc. I tried an experiment a while back. I purposely left something right in the middle of the hallway. I wanted to see if anyone would bother to pick it up, or if they would all just keep stepping over it. Guess what???? A week later, it was still there. Come on people, how hard is it? So, like I said, the mundane tasks.... Ah, well, enough complaining. Back to laundry.

Time?

Yesterday while I was cleaning out the garage, Alex and Camden were riding their bikes around the neighborhood. At one point, they met up at the end of the driveway and were chatting. I overheard this conversation and it made me laugh so hard!!!
"Camden, let's meet somewhere. You pick the place, and I'll pick the time."
Camden replies, "But I don't have a watch."
"That's okay," says Alex. "I don't either!"

Ah, the simple life of children!!!

Right or Left?

Both!!! So....the funny thing about my kids is that they are completely opposite of each other as far as personality. But, ironically, they are both exactly like their dad!! Weird, I know. Plus, I'm still trying to figure where I fit into the picture. Alex is Mike's left brain. Camden is Mike's right brain. Those of you that know Mike, will probably understand with just those 2 sentences. For the rest of you...here we go.
Mike is a very smart person. He is FULL of useless, random facts and bits of knowledge. He loves animals, creatures, living things....He really enjoys science type things. He thought for a long time about being a veterinarian. Now, my Alex is also full of random bits of info. Particularly if it has to do with animals, creatures, living things....Do you see where I'm going with this? Alex reads encyclopedias in his spare time. He owns about a dozen of them, in a wide (he, he) range of topics.....in the animal kingdom. He knows amazing facts about animals that I've never even heard of!!! Last spring a hummingbird found it's way through our back door and into our living room. We got it out after a few minutes, and Alex said, "Was that a ruby throated hummingbird?" I thought, "I DON'T KNOW!!!!! It was just a hummingbird!" He has even (politely, I hope) corrected his 3rd grade teacher a few times this year. She didn't know what a kite was....and he told her. By the way, it's not the kind that you fly on a windy day. It's actually a bird. There is one in Mexico that is black and has red eyes! Congrats! You learned something new today. :)
Camden on the other hand, is Mike's right brain. Mike, is of course, an artist. A very good one I might add! (Check out his website: http://www.mikebohman.com/ ) So, Camden is of course an artist also. He can spend hours working on one picture. He has been frustrated many times in Kindergarten because his teacher wouldn't let him finish a picture. Unfortunately for Camden, kindergarten is only 3 hours, and time just simply does not allow. Camden is always coming up with new "inventions". He is a thinker for sure! The other day he was eating a potato chip that had a slight resemblance to a shark fin. He told me that one day when he makes potato chips, he will invent a machine to make them ALL look like shark fins! Whew! I've been waiting my whole life for this. I can hardly wait for him to grow up and do it already. More good news!! He announced today that he is going to invent a money tree!!! Yeah!!! We could all use one of those. My days are spent listening to all his marvelous ideas. Mostly because the kid can't stop talking, and I've run out of hiding places.....Let's just hope he really does invent something fabulous so he can support Mike and me in our old age.
Ok, back to me.... :) Where do I fit in? Apparently, I'm just here to provide nutrition for these amazing minds. Lack of food kills brain cells you know..

The scientist

Alex is 8 1/2 years old. When he was 2, he announced to me that he was going to be a paleontologist when he grew up. Six years later, he hasn't strayed too much from that. He has simplified his dreams to "scientist" for now. But don't ask him what kind of scientist....there are WAY too many to try to pick from. He loves animals, he loves bugs, he loves sharks, he loves dinosaurs......pretty much any thing that lives or has lived. He is really proud of the fact that he saved a kitten at great grandma's house a couple months ago. It fell off the haystack, and he rescued it and put it back. He has a very kind and loving heart. I think he would make a great vetrinarian. He loves animals and it really tears him up inside to hear about an animal being hurt or killed. I think I will be disappointed if he doesn't do something with animals. It is such a love of his. He has more stuffed animals than I can count. They all have names, and he loves each of them equally and fully.
Last week at school, his teacher was telling the class about animals from Mexico. She was reading a list, and came upon an animal called a "kite". She admitted that she didn't know what it was, and continued on. Alex raised his hand and told his class all about "kites". Apparantly they are a type of bird. The one from Mexico is black and has red eyes. His teacher was very impressed. He has also corrected her a few times in class concerning other animals and dinosaurs. He is really looking forward to the dinosaur unit in 4th grade next year. He is full of knowledge about all creatures, great and small. He has about a dozen encyclopedias on the subject. I love this kid sooooo much. It makes me smile every time he starts rattling off random bits and pieces of information.

Lover Boy

So, Camden, at the ripe ol' age of 6, has a girlfriend. Her name is Madison. If I call her "Maddie" he gets upset. They are in kindergarten together. Plus, they get to play together every Thursday while I'm at work. He is a good little boyfriend. He makes her gifts all the time. He talks about her a lot. A while ago he announced to me that they are going to get married on Valentine's Day, because "that's when Madison wants to get married, and a gentleman lets a girl pick!" Well done Camden! I guess I'm raising him right. Today after school he was very excited because he got moved to the orange table today. He has been at the blue table most of the year. Madison was at the red table. A few weeks ago she was moved to the orange table. He was sad because he wanted to go to the orange table too. So, today was a great today!!! But, to make it even better, he gets to sit right next to her!!! My dear, sweet, gentlmanly Camden, says to me, "I feel funny inside when I'm by her." My heart melted. It acually makes me a little teary eyed just writing this up. He has the biggest heart in the world, and really, truly loves this sweet little girl. It's going to be really hard to move in a few weeks. We won't be seeing much of Madison any more. I feel terrible about it. Plus, I know from her mom, that it is a 2-sided love and friendship. She loves him as much as he loves her. They are just plain adorable. I fear the day that he gets his heart broken. It won't be pretty.

Mother's Day!

Camden is very much a "momma's boy". He has been suprising me with little gifts all day. Somewhere, he is finding Valentine's gifts that he got at school and "saved" them for me for mother's day!!! Nice...... He brought me one that is a heart made from melted crayons. He gave it to me along with a big hug and announced, "I'm regifting!!!!" As if it was something to be proud of? I told Mike that he might want to explain to Camden that moms and girls don't really like to be "regifted" to.

Alex isn't feeling well today. So, he's not in too much of a festive mood. He did give me a hug. I guess it's about as much as I can expect from him. He's kinda at the age of not caring. He doesn't want to do anything that requires effort.

The boys both got me an i-tunes gift card. I love that! Then I don't feel guilty about downloading songs. :)

Mike took me out on Friday. We went to Famous Dave's for dinner, and then went and saw "Ghosts of Girlfriends Past". We had a great time. Plus, the boys spent the night at Grandma Bird's house. That's ALWAYS a treat!!! (for us and them)

My mom, my brother, and his family are coming for dinner. The men are making steak and baked potatoes. Yummy!

So, a little about me and my family. Mike and I have been married for 10 fabulous years. We met 12 years ago when some common friends arranged for us to meet. We went out occassionally, but I "just wasn't that into him". My dad died a few months after we initially met and Mike was very sweet and called to check on me every few weeks. I'm a little slow though, so it was a year after my dad died before I really realized how wonderful Mike is. But, one day something suddenly clicked with me. I asked him out, he then asked me out, etc. We casually dated for about a month. Then we had the "talk". We dated exclusively for a whole month!!!! Then we got engaged. We married on January 21, 1999, nearly 2 years after we initially met. Alex joined our family on August 31, 2000. Camden finished it up on January 8, 2003. Although I strongly feel that there is a sweet little girl in heaven waiting for me. I don't think she will be able to join our family in this life, but I hope she waits for us to come home to her. So, here we are in 2009. Ten fabulous years with the love of my life. Two very handsome, sweet boys who take very good care of their mommy. My boys are growing up. Alex is almost 9 and Camden is 6. Very bittersweet as I'm sure every parent understands.

So, it's Monday. That means another day of cleaning and laundry. And, to top it off, I'm going to start packing. We are moving to Provo in June. I decided that while I clean, I may as well start packing stuff up. I've done the bookcase so far. I hate packing. I don't mind moving. In fact, I actually like moving. I enjoy the change of scenery. A new place to decorate. A new place to paint. A new arrangment of furniture. New walls to look at. A new view from the window. I find it very refreshing. We have been called "gypsies" by many, but don't mind it in the least. Some people are meant to settle into one place and stay for the rest of their lives. I'm sure it has it's bonuses. But, it sounds a little boring to me. We have been married 10 years and this will be our 7th move!!! I does kinda sound like a lot when I say it like that. But, a friend of mine recently blogged that they have been married for 12 years, and moved 18 times! So, I guess we're doing ok. Anyway, back to the packing. I despise the packing. There is always a few piles of things that you never know what to do with it. It's a nice opportunity to dejunk though. Something I also enjoy. I don't mind the unpacking too much. It's fun to pull stuff out that you have been missing for several weeks, or months depending on how soon you packed. Well, enough procrastinating. Back to packing......

Yeah!!! We have a blog! I finally fell to peer pressure. Picking a name was hard though. My first few ideas were taken. But, I think that "Darcy and The Boys" works well. Blog ya later!
